100 Word Challenge -Week 162: Beginnings

I knew today was going to be unlike any other, the way the fresh-falling powder did more than shine, it absolutely beamed. And though it was time to retire, the pine in our modest apartment radiated with life. But most telling of all was her smile, ever present on loving lips, but sealed in silence that desperately wanted to break.

And as I put the decorations away I saw it, delicately ensnared in lights, but brighter than the sun. Two pink lines among the green.

Yukiko turned as cherry as her robe when I turned to her and snatched her for the first of many kisses today.

It’s certainly been a while since I did one of these from Julia’s Place. But a new year brings new everything, and for some that means so much more than just new chances.

I hope you all enjoy
