With a snap of his fingers, it had been done, and the nation of Belka forever scarred. One by one, the lights of nuclear fires sprung up from their cities. Seven dots on the map, twelve thousand citizens, had burned.
Was it enough, or would seven prove to be too much? The border of his country was redrawn in the ashes of its people. Certainly, it halted the advance of their enemies, even taking half of the accursed Galm team down. Was the honor and sanctity of their homeland not worth that much and more?
“Rest well my children. May you know glory once more in Heaven.”
And entry #2 for this week’s 100-Word-Challenge from Julia’s Place (which I will figure out how to link back to one of these days, I promise!). This one stems from one of my favorite video games of all time; Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. We all know war has its price, but one wonders if any of these people even saw their fate coming.
I hope you all enjoy!
