100 Word Challenge – Week 93.2: Insanity

When the judgment came, it floored him. How many nights had he spent pursuing this madman through the streets? How many days did he spend reading the obituaries of all those who died and all that this psycho had stolen? Could this really be true, for the once and final time? Bruce Wayne hoped so, but as the maniacal laughter echoed into night, one sentence haunted his thoughts and the memories of those so close to him forever scarred by the clown.

“By unanimous decision, we the releasing committee of Arkham Asylum, declare Patient #22137, aka “The Joker”: cured.”

And entry #2 to this week’s 100 Word Challenge from Julia’s Place, but oddly enough the one I wrote first. Kind of puts things in perspective on how the system can work sometimes… or be worked by those who know how.

I hope you all enjoy.

Ha! As twisted as the history is between these two, I could actually see this happening.

I always like what you do with Bruce Wayne’s grim personality. He’s not so much angry, here, as befuddled(?). It’s a good change of pace.

  2. Thank you!
This is the feeling I got from the Nolan version of Batman/The Joker. I think this is about the reaction it would be after their first encounter and his first release back into society. I don’t think Bruce would be so understanding next time.
