100 Word Challenge – Week 163: Freedom

You know me by the way I hold you in my arms. Carefully, so you don’t fall, but never constricting so that you choke. Within my glow, you grow, but even with backs turned to me, I bear you nothing but the best I can. I feel you shift back and forth between my promise and the fortifying rigidness of my counterpart. Together, we are the world, and the path you walk. Still, that path is not without price, as those who stand with me carry us all on so few boots.

So we will stand tall, because we deserve to. Because we need to. Because we are free.

This week’s entry for the 100 Word Challenge. And it comes in the shadow of a horrific week for a nation. But tragedy brings solidarity, appreciation and a sense of togetherness that can be so lost in this day and age.

I hope you all enjoy.
