All Hallow’s Eve

As blood rises in the black

And the winds stand still as Death
Let us rise to the waking world
And dance our annual macabre
Rise, my fallen friends!
Spirits, ghouls, ghosts and horrors
Come and join our jubilee
Let mortal screams announce our year

My entry for a very special, quick turnaround poetry contest, which doubled nicely as a test to see if I could even stanza again. Turns out, not so much, but it was a lot of fun either way.

I hope you all enjoy

Nice work, shade! I know it’s probably supposed to be scary, but I really liked how the use of words like “jubilee” give this a sense of frivolity to the ghosts and goblins the verse is inviting. 🙂

  2. Thank you, Mayumi!
It probably helps that I´ve recently re-watched Beetlejuice, but some rejoice in the macabre and the outright thrill in the chaos that is the afterlife. You´ve got all eternity, why not have some fun with it!
